stop in the name of love

i couldn't resist a follow up to TAE's b'day blog with another pic of hero jean-claude van damme. few cult heroes have furthered the avenging angel role as well as he has. he only lacks a ponytail and steven seagal cool.... i really am more of a fan of movies like "point break" or "drop zone" that stretch the limits of imagination and recently missed the ending to a gary busey movie due to poor cable connections or bad film..... i want a refund from the cable guy!

Muay Thai-lor birthday

sometimes we find ourselves wondering how the years fly by so quickly and with the advent of son TAE's 27th year on this good earth I have to take time to say i've appreciated his way of looking at things. we often get to a place where we throw up our hands and stare out into space to signify our bewilderment with life around us. to make it through 27 years is a significant accomplishment, considering that i started to work here when i was 25 and knew absolutely nothing about life in general... not that i've matured much. we all can be like a really memorable movie with those moments that are indelible and the willingness to watch the whole thing over again... happy birthday TAE. know that we will continue to love and support you win or lose!

what's left

In order to discover who you are, first learn who everybody else is, and you’re ………….. what’s left...... - ashleigh brilliant, pot shots

Ashleigh Ellwood Brilliant is a real person living in santa barbara, ca and publishing daily "pot shots" cartoons/pictures with sayings. he has been publishing them since the 60's. there is so much wisdom out there just waiting for the right moment...... i wish i had some of it for my own....

The Wall Street Journal described him in a 1992 profile as "history's only full time, professional published epigrammatist."

new clothes

nature changes our surroundings each day and if we are real quiet we can see change happening, and not just what has happened. it's always easier to look back than to imagine what can be. right now the addition of solid water is bringing nature closer to us... putting on diamonds can make all the difference in "to what we pay attention."

endings - the final counter-cute

it's not possible to counter what isn't and with Calliope ending the run i'll just put in an "ending" of appropriate nature...... there is so much out there to learn about. perhaps now i'll explore some of the places i've been and known...

an early counter-cute

because we're headed east for a pediatric intensive program at swan lake resort i'm including a counter-cute (assuming calliope is back to work) and will find the outer path on the golf course for early am xc skiing. last year it was beautiful and hopefully if it doesn't get too warm we'll repeat. it is always good to find "koalaty time" away from work.

12 days of Christmas

it is time to take down the Christmas tree.... put away the ornaments and nutcrackers.... and pack up the nativity scene. we didn't find time to make more sculpy characters this year so LBJ, the narwhal, the Christmas snake, last year's beaver and their friends will have to wait until next year for more company..... now it's on to xc skiing, paddling and shoveling..... lots of shoveling....

weekly counter-cute23/ NYDay

with Calliope here for the New Year's break i'll include a counter-cute without comparison. our cat Schnitzel is lounging in front of the fire after opening her packages this Christmas and looking quite content. it was a busy day playing with bows and ribbon and discarded wrapping paper so she deserved a chance to relax...... and i'm ready too after all the work it took to get dressed on New Year's Day and take to the water below the dam for the first paddling trip of the year. it was only -20 F with the wind chill but toasty with almost all exposed skin covered.
